Delicious Oatmeal you can make overnight
Steel Cut Oatmeal (overnight)
- one small pat of butter
- one cup of steel cut oats
- four cups water
In a medium saucepan, heat butter on medium-high heat. Once butter is melted, add the oats. Stir and heat oats until toasted and fragrant. Add water and turn heat to high. Bring to a boil, cover and remove from heat. Leave on stovetop overnight.
In the morning, remove the lid and heat on low, stirring occasionally until heated through.
Serve with your favorite add-ins.
butter * cream * brown sugar * berries * nuts * honey * fruit
I love to serve this when we have houseguests. It's easy to get everything ready the night before so you can spend less time in the kitchen, and more time with the ones you love.
For a delicious and simple breakfast, I will also serve a warm Kringle (thanks Trader Joe's) and a big bowl of fruit or a platter of sliced melons. Pulling the Kringle from the freezer, cutting the fruit and getting the coffee ready to brew the night before makes everything come together quickly and easily in the morning.
